striking the sticks now......

Hello everybody.....
In the last post i told you how to set up your drum set.Now once the drums are all placed at their usual place the next step is to try your hands on the drumset.
Assuming that you have no knowledge of playing drums I am providing you some basic easy beats that you should practice initially to set your hands on the drumset.
But before that here are some notations for various drums:

Base drum - b;
Snare drum - s;
toms - t1,t2;
Hi-hat - h;
Floor tom - ft;
Crash cymbal - c;
Right foot - 0;
Right hand - *;
left hand - +;
- : blank;


Here are the basic drum beats:


1. straight beat 1 with Hi-hat:

NOTE: Confused about how to read the above written tab??Ok let me tell you.
The very first beat is on the hi-hat (with your right hand) and on the base drum(with your right leg) simultaneously.
The second beat is on the hi-hat (with your right hand).
The third beat is on the hi-hat (with your right hand) and on the snare drum (with your left hand) simultaneously.
The fourth beat is on thr hi-hat (with your right hand ).
And then repeat the same pattern.Its easy.


2. straight beat 1 with crash cymbal:

3. straight beat 2 on hi-hat:

These are some basic beats the you should practice.Once you feel comfortable with these start mixing up these straight beats like:

you can get this variation by mixing up straight beat 1 and straight brat 2.

Above these are the simplest beats to start with.

Just holding the sticks....


Hello everybody........


Here is my first post......


One thing I wanna tell you is that I have written this blog for those who wanna play with the sticks but dont know how or more clearly saying for the initials of drumming.

Lets get started ............


If you have purchased a drum set its ok if not i tell you the minimum basic parts needed if you are just starting to play drums:

Base drum

- the biggest drum in the drumset.

Snare drum

- the drum which you place in between your legs.

Toms

- the two drums in front of you(can have only one if you have finance problem.)

Floor tom

- drum on the right hand side

Hi-hat

- two cymbals placed on each other and touches when pressed with your left leg.

Crash cymbal

- placed next to the two toms (Two more cymbals are there splash cymbal and ride cymbal.You can purchase these also if affordable.)

These are the minimum basic parts required in the drum set.

Now once you have purchased the drum set you need to set various parts at there usual place which is cleared in the image shown on the top.Once you have set your drumset check for future postings for the next step.
